Azla Sounds, Volume 1 is the first in a series of recordings presented by Azla Vegan. These recordings highlight the traditions and rich cultures of Ethiopia, as well as the various sounds and textures from the Diaspora that inform our aesthetic.

We are honored to collaborate with Ras G, a producer and DJ that we respect deeply, on this beat tape. Our work with Ras G began naturally over a plate of injera and Shiro Wot. Ras G and Nesanet Abegaze, Azla Vegan’s CEO, went on to collaborate at To Live and Dine in LA at the Regent Theater in 2015. Ras G and Nesanet both live in Leimert Park, a cultural mecca in Los Angeles.
