At long last I can pass along some music from Emay’s upcoming Where The Wild Things Are remix project. Though this is all Emay’s work (and Theodor3 on the visuals) I can’t help but feel a sense of personal attachment as an executive producer on this project (so forgive me if i ramble). Though the feeling might be a result of the piece’s strong emotional resonance. Emay, Karen, & The Kids has been in the works ever since the OST to Spike Jonze’s film was released, and I think it’s a great culmination of many months of hard work. Much how Spike took Maurice Sendak’s words and illustrations and adapted it to his unique vision, Emay builds off of Karen O’s original compositions and heightens the specific emotions and sounds that resonate with him personally. This whole EP is Emay’s personal interpretation of what Karen O and her children’s choir brought to the film. Worried Shoes tells a sad, but uplifting tale of emotional rebelliousness. It is in creating this type of voyage that Emay’s music is reflective both of Where the Wild Things Are as a film and as a story. The full EP drops digitally on April 26th. In the meantime, turn your speakers up to 11 strap on your Worried Shoes and go along for the journey.
