If you're expecting a series of previously unreleased studio tracks from the Enter the 36 Chambers or Only Built 4 Cuban Linx sessions, you won't find much of that lurking here. But what DJ Mathematics assembles should appeal to any fan of the Wu or even just their scowling street-tale aesthetic and dissonant production. A loose assemblage of different B-sides, remixes, and a few unreleased tracks, the album includes both Wu-Tang founders like Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and GZA as well as satellite artists Eyes Low, Buddha Bless, and a post-pubescent Shyhiem trying to come grimy. Fans of the RZA school of dirty, dusted soul and funk loops will find much to like, especially "Wu Banga (Remix)," "King Toast Queen," and "U Don't Care." A throwback to the classic Wu era, Unreleased is welcome relief for rugged rap fans thirsty for liquid swords.
