The Benchwarmers Clique have done what few hip-hop artists have done by creating a CD that wins the approval of the hardcore hip-hop heads, as well as the ladies and the hip-hop sophisticates. They float through all their music in this CD with intelligent lyrics and laid back-stories about the lives they live and the lives they hope to live.

I liked it, but the beats were nearly all covers. I mean was it intentially recorded like this? Nevertheless the guys are skilled in spitting rhymes, therefore it didn't bother me that many of the beats were just "stolen" from other artists. Sorry for the word "stolen", probably it was a bit strong.

Whats up, Miska?

I appreciate your feedback yo, glad you enjoyed the music, definately. To answer your question, This body of music is what you would call a 'mixtape'. Mixtapes are like albums, but are mainly used for promotional purposes, to build steam for the album, or in the case of some signed artists, to showcase some of their music while waiting for the label to release their album. Its not uncommon to hear familiar beats, nor is it stealing, as many of your favorite artists in the US and abroad have and will continue to release mixtapes, and they sell 'em too. Its simply showing love to original cats that put it down. Please check allhiphop.com to hear 'off the block', and myspace.com/thebenchwarmersclique. Also tons of vids on youtube. Tell ya friends, maaaan, put em on!

Be Easy, Joka,
