Second album of dub and hiphop weighted jazz and psychedelic modes from The Mars Volta keyboardist Isaiah “Ikey” Owens and his Free Moral Agents. With ‘Honey In The Carcass Of the Lion’ the scope of the group has evidently expanded greatly since their debut album. They now operate as a six piece band with Mendee Ichikawa on vocals backed with an array of rhodes, drums, guitars and Isaiah Owens jumping between keys. Most notably Tony Allen contributes percussion to the Morricone-esque guitars and Ethio-jazz figures of ‘North Is Red’, while ‘Dragon Pow’ recalls a scuzzier TV On The Radio, and ‘When I Smile’ works out complex jazz drums, New wavey vox and advanced Math-poppy arrangements. ‘Six Degrees’ offers a moment of reflective darkened R’n'B pop.
