"Loose Threads" is Sacramento emcee Calcei's third in a series of one producer albums following 2023's "Groundworks" with Portsmouth, UK's Pimpernel Jones, and 2024's "Occam's Razor" with Detroit producer Ohkang.
Calcei's latest project pairs him with Jacksonville, FL producer Beatnick Classics. The duo previously paired on Calcei's albums "Denny's" and "The Bowling League."
Beatnick's unique and organic style combines hard drums with a sonic palette derived from obscure sounds and genres of music. The prolific beat maker's signature style blends perfectly with Calcei's wordplay and storytelling.
Brazil-based emcee Rick Wreck also drops witty bars on two tracks.
The title and cover of the album are based on the harrowing 1984 BBC nuclear holocaust film "Threads."
Like the dystopian future the movie portrays, "Loose Threads" revolves around themes of the dystopian nature of modern life on tracks like "COVID Test" and "Peep," while also delving into humour and absurdity on tracks like "ADULT CONTEMPORARY RAP!!" and "Tom Eat Tom."
The album is available on all streaming sites, Bandcamp, on cassette from Good Darts, and CD from DITCD.COM.
