Dear All,
I am very pleased to be on the board of Beatbox Radio Show. For this very unique event I hereby present a classic album I personally love very much.
The album is from The Mighty Bop. I guess many of you have already heard of it or even know it. I first heard of it on Dj Cam's "Dj Kicks" selection back in the late nineties.
Enjoy this unique flavour of hip-hop, acid jazz, smooth melodies straight from France.
peace,
miska

10 tracks of raw hip-hop from the civilized animal. Raised in the jungles of Florida on strips of Bacon and Yoo Hoo, PJ comes out with a collection of some of his most infamous b-sides, collabos, and dirty ass poems. Beats by Drunken Master, Meatsock, and more.
Buddy Peace - Wolf Diesel Mountain(2008)
30 unnamed tracks
Link
Wolf Diesel Mountain is a monster fed on the bones of all that have gone before it. This is a mix that is complex and diverse - slices and selections of nearly 100 tracks in under an hour. Samples are chopped, beats are re-programmed and tracks are fully remixed - without ever falling into the common trap of mixes that veer off on tangents to show off the DJ's record collection. Not that Buddy hasn't got a collection worth losing limbs for - but the genius here lies in the construction. This is a mix of broken hearts and block parties, unfaithful guitars and dusty drums. There is a journey here, a narrative of disparate elements combined, like the best indie film you never saw. But like every good mix it still bumps, leaving your spine aching and your head bristling with hopes of redemption.

For the funk lovers, there’s the slept-on classic “Go Power At Christmas Time” by James Brown and a little-known Soul Saints Orchestra tune from the Poets of Rhythm archives called “Santa’s Got a Bag of Soul.” From there, the comp ranges stylistically from reggae to avant-garde robot singing. And check out the exclusive contributions by Stones Throw artists James Pants, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Baron Zen

For those of you who were not on the west coast or or in San Fran to catch the show, fear not!! The Free MP3 is coming equipped with a Quicktime slide show of the entire collection of Ghosts...
The latest collection of works is Fish's personal love letter to SF, as he intends to "gain a better understanding of San Francisco's formative heroes, and honor them in my drawings, paintings, and sculpture, as well as finding parallels to the early days of San Francisco in today's contemporary San Francisco, and the cyclical nature of this city and its ill behaviors.

Desdamona is the premiere female hip hop and spoken word artist in the Midwest. A FIVE time Minnesota Music Award winner for Best Spoken Word Artist (2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006). What about 2001 and 2002, you might ask? The award didn't exist those two years. It is clear that Desdamona's potent poetry and fierce hip hop delivery have been an invariable force. Making her mark not only in the Twin Cities, Desdamona has graced some of America's most famous stages including The Green Mill in Chicago, The Five Spot in Philadelphia, The Nuyorican Poets Café in New York and The National Poetry Slam Competition. Desdamona won Honolulu's Slam 2004 Slam Championship. She has warmed the stages for numerous artists including: Faith Evans, Mint Condition, Wyclef Jean, Black Uhuru (Sly & Robbie), GURU, Saul Williams, Bahamadia, Ursula Rucker and Rhymesayers Artists. Desdamona has spent years working hard, not only on her own career, but making a point to help others along the way as well. She has organized and participated in countless events benefiting various charities over the past decade. For almost 6 years she has hosted a popular weekly open mic event at The Blue Nile (Minneapolis), giving artists and musicians the opportunity to showcase their talents and network. She also co-founded B-Girl Be, the only female hip hop festival to incorporate all four elements of hip hop: mc'ing, breaking, dj'ing and graffiti. B-Girl Be (named after one of her poems) celebrated its third annual festival June, 2007. In 2005, Desdamona released her first full length CD, The Ledge. Largely produced by legendary duo Sly & Robbie, Desdamona garnered abundant positive write ups on the project, and earned, in addition to her win for Best Spoken Word Artist, nominations for Best Hip Hop Recording (The Ledge), Critics' Choice for Artist of the Year and Artist of the Year at the Minnesota Music Awards. With The Source, her follow up to The Ledge, Desdamona is sure to shock many fans with her diverse offerings, and may just redefine that oft used term "triple-threat artist". Traveling seamlessly between spitting vicious rhymes, singing melodious hooks, or taking you on a journey as she effortlessly streams a thought provoking poem, it will amaze the listener that all that talent is coming from a sole artist. Desdamona also played a big part in the creation of The Source, co-producing 11 tracks on the album. The legendary Jamaican "Riddim Twins" Sly and Robbie are pleased to return to Desdamona's follow up project, offering remixes to two songs on her album, ("The Source" and "Orange and Blue"). Desdamona says, "My intention in writing and recording The Source was to provoke thought, questions and communication, and engage people through my music. I want to inspire and motivate people to create and make change. I think that we are in a dark time and I want people to know that they have the power of light and the opportunity to create a new reality for themselves as individuals and as a global community."

Critics of rap music who say that the genre is too violent, too focused on bling-bling, and gangbangin have something new to reconsider their perspective: Another Rap Group.
Thats not a misprint. Another Rap Group is indeed the name, but the name is an understatement. ARG isnt just another rap group. In many ways, ARG is the rap group that is poised to bring a renaissance of what rap music was and has continued to be in the subgenre of underground rap all around the nation and overseas.
With their groove-savvy beats, smoothly crafted instrumental tracks, and of course, a rap style that relates to listeners on a street-level with issues that most anybody can identify witheven those outside of rap musicARG is bringing rap into the 21st century with a 1980s passion and honesty that made rap the most exciting and relevant musical style to emerge in the last three decades.
The new album "They Call Us..." was a struggle, "sophomore jinx is an understatement We lost the album twice (data curroption) and the second time came a month before the release" says Ospis. "They Call Us..." talks about the struggles they deal with in their everyday lives as MC's and normal men.

In Georgia around the spring of 98, Jason Trammell (JayTram) acquired some recording gadgets which allowed him to explore his ideas for the first time at home. Floan had been formed sometime the year earlier by the North Carolina native. J likes drums, records and things that make sound. Here in art school he met and befriended Keith Reynaud. Keith comes from New Orleans and likes recording, manipulating sounds fishing and food. Around the time of this meeting floan took a turn from live psych hip hop group to a more introspective experimental home studio production. Jason had recently begun experimenting with live and sampled recordings as well as random drum machines and cheep keyboards. The live and studio projects continued to grow with an ever-changing lineup of musicians and artists. During these sessions Keith was a constant. Having already developed an amazing skill and knowledge of recording and sound, Keith understood the direction of the project and was able to expound, and expand on the ideals jason was aiming for. By the end of the summer '99 the two had collaborated on and mixed 3 albums worth of material. JayTram migrated to NYC the following year. After settling a bit and reacquiring his equipment, he convinced keith to relocate as well. In april '01 both moved to Brooklyn and found a place where they could live, record and not be bothered by complaints. Here they built friendships with artists and musicians who shared the same creative visions. In late '03 this project became reality with the release of 'movement'.
