What happens when two immovable forces like
the New York hardcore scene and the hip hop
world collide? What does the intersection of
the two very different, yet very similar
genres look like? Look no further than Danny
Diablo a.k.a. Lord Ezec. Diablo grew up in
the Jackson Heights section of Queens, a
backdrop that spawned pivotal bands like
Gorilla Biscuits and Raw Deal. Diablo mixes
the intensity and rage he absorbed from
those early days of hardcore with the
streetstrut beats of hiphop, a blend built
through the years, first in his bands Crown
of Thornz and Skarhead, and more recently as
a solo artist with some heavy friends. Now
comes Diablo's Hellcat debut, produced by
label head Tim Armstrong, and with guest
appearances by Armstrong, DJ Muggs (Soul
Assasins,Cypress Hill), CeeKay
(Shotblockers) Prince Powerrule/Metropolitan
(Shotblockers), Sick Jacklyn (Psycho
Realm/Sick Symphonies), Vinnie Paz (Jedi
Mind Tricks) and White Trash Rob (Blood For
Blood/Ramallah). With Diablo's career
peaking on many fronts including a turn on
the big screen in Charles Nordeen's The
Crackdown Danny Diablo is truly on his way
to becoming the real International Hardcore
Superstar.

Onra goes overslick with an EP of killer modern hiphop boogie and electrosoul for Dublin's All City Records. 'Long Distance' is all about the club, chromed-out rides and slow dance interactions, judging from the longing gaze of the title track. Oliver DaySoul gives his finest croon, oiling up Onra's already greazy electrosoul beat. 'Rock On' and 'Oper8tor' meanwhile give dope boogie beat variations in miniature before Reggie B jumps on the low jam pressure of 'High Hopes' for all those with a special someone to step to. Fans of Thriller Records, Hud Mo or Cameo need this in their life - big twelve!
