TMB Presents: "Otisis" Jinesis Produced & Otis Redding Sampled Beat Tape(2011)
Link
"Sitting On the Dock of The Bay" has to be one of those pivotal spring/summertime soul anthems. You know it when you hear that infectious bridge part whistled. It conjures all the warm memories of backyard (or stoop) domino games and is about as summer-y as lemonade. Otis Redding's brand of soul music is timeless. When TheMadBloggers.com decided they'd like to re-interpret Otis Reddings timeless soul into the hip-hop realm for Spring/Summer of 2011, they reached out to hip-hop beatmaker Jinesis to craft a mini beat-tape to provide summertime's soundtrack and sonic interludes. Now that summer is nearly here, TheMadBloggers.com and Jinesis present to you, the beat tape "Otisis". Instead of JUST creating a quiet, sit-back relax beat-tape, Jinesis' "Otisis" could very well be instrumentals welcome at any open mic or cipher. Music perfect for setting up your evening as you head out to hang with your boys or riding in the car with your homegirls. Crafting Friday night head-nodding beats from lazy Sunday afternoon ballads is made to look easy on this project.
As always, enjoy.

Most mixtapes that I listen to, usually look forward, bringing listeners’ attention to new tracks to discover. Being a pretty nostalgic person myself, constructing most of my music out of old records, recorded 30 to 50 years ago, I decided to reverse this formula and make a mix of tracks that are older than what you’d find on the usual online mixtape.
So, the result is a kind of snapshot of music I have listened to a lot in the last 10 years. All of these tracks, one way or another, inspired me to make the records I have released so far, and even though I’m now mostly checking very recent releases, or much older records to sample, I still sometimes come back to these tracks. I also included two of my own tracks that were made in that very inspirational period. I thought it’d be nice to share. Enjoy! Sincerely yours, Arts the Beatdoctor.
