For some, it started with a demo back in 2006 called "Seven Day Sessions: The Demonstration". For others, it started in cyphers and rap battles around the Sydney club scene much earlier than that. For some, "Day 1" will be the beginning. Scott Burns is no newcomer to the Australian hiphop community, showing skills on the battle circuit in his earlier days to hosting shows to performing countless shows around the country and co-founding the LookUP brand. But for an MC with such a prolific impact in most areas of the local hiphop scene, there was always one thing that there needed to be more of - the recorded music.
"This ain't pop music or your pop's music" - and so starts Day 1, the long-awaited debut album from Scott Burns. A tribute to the years spent building his repertoire on stages across Australia, the album sees Scott Burns displaying his broad reach as an MC - from the party banger of "The Frequency", the story of "Different Things", the introspection of "Still Time" and the street grit of "Big City Music" - this album holds something to cover every mood. The diversity of style is evident through the all-star production roster on Day 1 - with beatmakers such as Chasm, Jase, M-Phazes and Regal (Wiseguys, UK) collaborating with Scott to provide a world-class backdrop.
What Sydney has known for years will soon be available to the rest of the country - Day 1 is Saturday 1st November.
